You Must Give Without Want Before You Can Receive

Zig Ziglar said it a long time ago – the key to becoming successful is in helping other people become successful. All of the worlds’ major religions and spiritual teachings support the same notion – you must give in order to receive. The most successful internet marketers in the business know that this is the key to their success.

But what does “giving” have to do with making your home based business successful?

Whether you are an experienced internet marketer trying to build a successful home based business or you are just starting out, you are probably spending a majority of your time looking for people or tools or information that others can give to you in order to help you succeed. It is absolutely necessary to work hard and do the marketing tasks that need to be done but if you are completely neglecting the “giving” aspect of your business you will have trouble finding true success.

I challenge you to add a new aspect to your home based business. Find your niche for giving. What knowledge or resources do you have to share that could help someone else be successful? Have you offered that knowledge, free of charge, to as many people as you can? Do you have a blog or webpage that centers around helping others succeed instead of helping you get what you want?

Change your mindset to one of giving instead of getting and you will be surprised by the changes. You will be less stressed, you’ll enjoy your work more, ideas will flow more freely and all of this will lead to your home based business’ success.

DEFINITION: Mindset – A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations.

Everyone involved in a work at home business comes across situations everyday that will challenge their mindset. How you respond to those situations will determine your success or failure in your work at home business. If you have the proper mindset you will see a setback as a learning experience and move on. If your mindset is fragile then you will see challenges as failures and eventually give up.

Don’t make the mistake of underestimating the power of your mindset. Ninety-seven percent of people that start a work at home business will fail. Why are we so reluctant to set goals? Do they intimidate us? Are we are afraid that we will fail to reach them? Goal setting is one of the most important tools of the successful. If you are planning on starting an online business then you would be wise to use this simple tool. Here are a few simple steps to get you started.

1^st-Set goals that will give you what you want – don’t settle for what you think you can get, go for what you deserve. You only live this life once so make the most of it and go for the goals that will bring you your dreams. Starting an online business is the beginning of a long journey so you should divide your goals up into short term and long term goals. Short term goals will allow for more frequent positive reinforcement. That reinforcement will keep you going towards those long term goals. This is where you will have to be disciplined. Planning out your goals with discipline is crucial in living your dream life.

2^nd-Most importantly you must learn how to overcome obstacles. Without a doubt, when starting an online business, you will come up against obstacles and you should be prepared for it. Work on your mindset. Always focus on the vision of what you will have at the end of the road, not the roadblock that is right in front of you. Roadblocks are inevitable but not unconquerable.

3^rd-Be accountable. It is so much easier to make excuses and blame everyone and everything else when starting an online business, but just don’t do it. You will be amazed at the empowerment you will get from taking responsibility no matter what goes wrong and working through it.

I recently came across this interesting information that I wanted to share with you. A Harvard Study found these 10 traits associated with people who have a powerful sales attitude…

A powerful sales attitude would surely help any of us that are trying to create financial freedom by working at home. I like this list because I can see myself in some of the traits but I can also use it as a tool for growth. I can make it a goal to create in myself the traits that are in this list, one by one. There you go - trait number 5 – obsessive goal setting! Check!

If you work at home then your online business success depends very heavily on your attitude. Every one of us faces the challenge of maintaining a positive attitude in the face of a struggle whether it be business or personal. OK, if you don’t know who Mike Dillard is please allow me the pleasure of introducing you to a brilliant marketer. He is in a class of teachers that you should be associating with if you want to succeed in your online business.

Speaking of a ‘class of teachers’ …let me digress for a minute. When I first started looking for an online business opportunity I was all over the internet following every offer that came across my computer, most of which were junk.
